Privacy policy

Last updated: June 7, 2026

Short version: SNAPOUT does not sell your data, show you ads, or track you for any commercial purpose. All usage tracking stays on your device. The only data that ever leaves your device is your optional settings backup — and only if you choose to sign in with Google. Sign-in is never required.

1. Who we are

SNAPOUT is an Android application developed and maintained by The SNAPOUT team ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at snapoutapporiginal@gmail.com.

2. What information SNAPOUT accesses

App usage statistics

SNAPOUT uses Android's PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS permission to detect which app is in the foreground. This lets the app know when you open Instagram, YouTube, or any app you've chosen to monitor.

This data is read in real time and never transmitted anywhere. We track only cumulative time on apps you explicitly selected — and that tracking stays entirely on your device.

Display over other apps

SNAPOUT uses the SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW permission to show full-screen warning overlays when your session limit is reached or Focus Lock is active. This permission is not used to read what you do inside other apps.

Vibration

Used to create haptic feedback during session warnings and cooldowns. No data is involved.

Foreground service

SNAPOUT runs a foreground service to continuously monitor app usage in the background. A persistent notification is shown while it runs, as required by Android. The service only performs the monitoring and intervention functions described in this policy.

Boot completed

SNAPOUT uses RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED to restart its monitoring service after your device reboots, so protection continues automatically without requiring you to relaunch the app.

Google Sign-In (optional)

SNAPOUT offers optional Google Sign-In powered by Firebase Authentication (Google LLC). Sign-in is never required to use the app. If you choose to sign in, we receive your Google account email address and a unique Firebase user ID. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, Drive, or any other Google service data.

Cloud backup (optional, signed-in users only)

If you sign in, the following data is backed up to Google Cloud Firestore (Mumbai, India region): your settings, commitment answers, streak, monitored app list, Switch activity selections, Focus Lock preferences, and badge progress. This data is stored under your unique Firebase user ID and is accessible only by you. It is never used for advertising, analytics, or any commercial purpose. You can permanently delete it at any time from Profile → Delete Account.

3. What we store on your device

SNAPOUT stores the following locally using Android's SharedPreferences:

If you are not signed in, none of this data ever leaves your device. If you are signed in, it is also backed up to Firestore as described above.

This section maps directly to Google Play's Data Safety requirements.

Data deletion

You can request deletion of all your data at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account) or by emailing us at snapoutapporiginal@gmail.com. We will permanently delete all associated Firestore data within 7 days of the request.

5. What we do NOT do

6. Firebase and Google

We use two Firebase services — Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore — solely to power the optional sign-in and cloud backup feature. Firebase is operated by Google LLC and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. If you do not sign in, no data is sent to Firebase or Google through SNAPOUT at any point.

7. Payments and subscriptions

SNAPOUT may offer optional premium features via Google Play's in-app billing system. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play — we never collect, store, or have access to your payment information, card details, or billing address. Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled at any time from your Google Play account settings. Refund requests are handled per Google Play's refund policy.

8. Data sharing

We do not share your personal data with any third parties for commercial purposes. The only external service that receives any data is Firebase (Google LLC), and only if you choose to sign in. We have no advertising partners, data brokers, or analytics providers receiving your information.

9. Data retention and deletion

Local data: Uninstalling SNAPOUT or clearing app storage deletes all local data immediately and permanently.

Cloud data (signed-in users): You can delete your cloud data at any time from Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your Firestore document and Firebase Auth account. We do not retain any data after deletion is confirmed. You may also email us to request deletion.

10. Children's privacy

SNAPOUT includes a Guardian Mode designed for parents to manage screen time for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Guardian Mode profile stores only a child's nickname, difficulty level, and daily usage cap — on the parent's device and, if the parent is signed in, within the parent's own Firestore document under their account. No separate child account is created in Firebase. Parents are solely responsible for the use of Guardian Mode on their device.

11. Your rights

Under laws such as GDPR (Europe), CCPA (California), and the DPDP Act (India), you have the following rights regarding your data:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at snapoutapporiginal@gmail.com. We respond within 7 business days.

12. Security

Local data is stored in Android's sandboxed app-private storage, inaccessible to other apps. Cloud data in Firestore is protected by server-side Security Rules ensuring only you can read or write your own document. All data in transit between your device and Firebase is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher. We strongly recommend keeping your device secured with a lock screen and keeping Android updated.

13. Third-party services used

No other third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising networks are used in SNAPOUT.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change how SNAPOUT handles data we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify signed-in users through the app before the change takes effect. Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. The current version of this policy always lives at this URL.

15. Contact
